  1. I understand that betting on baseball is against the rules. But so is taking Steroids, so is corking a bat. And yet those players who actually cheated are not held to the same standards as Pete. I must say Pete loved the Cincinnati Reds. He loved Cincinnati. He did not alter an outcome of a game, to gain money. No player will break his records. Shame on those in power that can correct this error! I don’t care for Pete Rose the person, but dang you can’t beat his baseball playing records.

  2. That rule is in place because some people will bet on their team and them throw the game so that they can win the bet. Pete never did that. He bet because he liked to bet and the Reds were always a great team tat that time. He never let his gambling influence the outcome of the games.

    • Pelosi wasn’t betting on a game. She had insider knowledge of this latest stock selling. This is not the first time she and hubby have done this. She broke the law that Congress , including herself, passed. The average person on the street goes to prison if they break this law. Martha Stewart went to prison for breaking this law. Congress is above the law that they enacted? This is hardly the same thing as betting on a single game, which is not against the law. It’s just against the rules of the MLB.

  3. Love him or hate him, one fact stands…..
Strictly based on NUMBERS, Pete Rose belongs, and belonged in Cooperstown 20 years ago !

Not a fan, I rooted against him whenever he played against the Chicago Cubs, but NOBODY has near his game stats. Facts only speak the truth !

  4. players of baseball have done far worse and yet they are inducted….They did a dis-service to him. One of the best all time players ever, denied that place…I wonder how many of those on the board that determines this ever bet on games? Maybe that should be investigated. He passed now but should have given him that chance 20 years ago RIP Pete Rose.

  5. Pete Rose’s statistics speak for itself. He didn’t cheat for those. He never threw a game during his career. Yes, he broke a golden rule, but now everyone is encouraging betting on games. You now have ohtani involved with gambling. We overlooked that. You can’t say he didn’t know what was going on for sure. But we won’t subject him to the same standard we held Pete Rose to. He is worth to much money bringing in fans. It’s time Rose was let into the Hall or hold all players to the same standard.

  6. greatest player lot worse things have been done by many other players it is degrading to the hall itself. Kinda makes a mockery of the whole game including the Hall.

    • I think disrespecting the American flag and the National Anthem should be grounds for being being denied induction into the Hall of Fame.

  7. Pete Rose belongs in the Hall of Fame. His stats speak for themselves. There is absolutely no proof that his betting influenced the outcome of any game.

  8. The baseball Hall of Fame is the model of other Hall of Fames. Established in 1936. Cities all over the United States have local halls of fame to honor the accomplishments of there stars, record breakers. We as baseball fans are missing an All Star a record holder not in the baseball hall. PETE ROSE had earned the HONOR.

  9. How long will the suits running MLB continue to punish Pete Rose? How about THEY get replaced by some people who can forgive Pete Rose for a “crime less” infraction of a rule?

  10. Ken Roberts
    Lynchburg, Virginia

Let Pete in posthumously or at least let him be eligible. Undoubtedly, he is not the only one in MLB with dirt in their closet that would warrant a lifetime banishment he just happened to have gotten caught,

His athletic abilities are what she be considered – Not so much as how he was as a person. Look at all the plaques of those already in the HOF from years gone by. Do you actually think that each of them were the squakiest clean “nicest guy in the world” type of person ?
