I come from a family of educators. I am a machinist but have been exposed to educational issues all my life. One recurring theme in discussions with my family is the idea that federal money is not free. And when you get federal funding there is always slippage between what you send to Washington and what you get back. Education is best handled at a state level. There can be obvious problems with straight local control, but State control is the right balance between local politics and federal waste.
