  1. Patton was not a good role model… he related to the NAZIs too closely… Eisenhower had to fire him… bring others in to run captured Germany…

    • My dad met Patton during World War 2 and did not like him. Could hardly even talk about him. Not the hero everyone thinks he was.

  2. Patton recognized Communist Russia as the deeper threat to the USA and when he wanted to use defeated Germans against the Russians,he was killed for political reasons.

    • Patton was certainly larger than life–a general when generals had to be generals. Though he had his flaws, in these sissified times he seems a caricature of himself. Others have played like characters (Patrick McGoohan, Eddie Albert, etc.) I can’t think of Denis without smiling at his performance in “The Ref.” However, is he still the flaming liberal?
