My experience with the recording industry in the 80’s – 90’s was to survive over time, each new recording had to be an improvement over the last & stand up against the competition. Taylor Swift’s music is certainly different, but can’t hold a candle to the Beatles, Elvis, Zeppelin, Whitney Houston, REO, Pink Floyd, the Rat Pack, & many more. Is great that fans can identify with her in so many good ways. but quality-wise, her music can’t stand up against many performers listed above & others in these eras. She may be popular w/ her fans but has no strong competition to be observed. Compare to the 70’s & forward, so many groups kept appearing on the scene that it became difficult to keep up with all of them. YouTube is filled w/ endless comments about how badly people of all ages wish the music of 60’s through 90’s could return going forward.
